What A Feeling! Fox Cities Performing Arts Center Will Welcome Two Millionth Patron During Flashdance

The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center will have a lot to celebrate this week when Flashdance begins performances. Not only will the new musical be making its Appleton debut, but the Performing Arts Center, which opened in 2002, will celebrate its two millionth ticketed patron during Flashdance’s November 13 performance. The show will begin its run on November 12 and play through November 17.

Pre-show activities will kick off the milestone celebration on November 13, beginning at 6:30PM in the theater lobby. KZ 104.3’s Mary Love and Richard’s School of the Dance will host an '80s dance party, with theatergoers encouraged to don their best '80s fashion. Anyone sporting an awesome outfit will have a chance to meet the cast of Flashdance after the show. Gift bags will be handed out (while supplies last) and audience members can try their luck at the prize wheel. A photo station will also be available for fans to recreate the famous splash sequence from the original 1983 movie.

Flashdance tells the story of Alex Owens (Jillian Mueller), a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. She works by day at a steel mill, where she catches the eye of her boss Nick Hurley (Corey Mach). By night she works as a “flashdancer” at a local bar, but longs to become a student at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy.

The musical features hits from the film’s Grammy-winning soundtrack, including “Flashdance—What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria” as well as 10 original songs.
